Vtg 1944 Pacific Pump Works Copper Sign-Back Side Engraved W Army Air Force Award. Condition is "Used".
Interesting and unique collectible. It’s what looks like a copper equipment sign for Pacific Pump Works, Los Angeles, CA. On the back it is engraved with the following:
U.S. Army Air Forces
Aid Society Day
Hollywood Park
Dec. 14th, 1944
“The P38 Lightning”
One and 1/8th Miles Time 1:53
Won by “Squirmer”
Jockey L. Dotter
Owner J.B. Clark
My best guess is that resources were in short supply with WWII, and they made do with what they had available. Pretty neat addition for any military enthusiast.
Measures about 5.75” x 7”, 1/16” thick. Weighs 10.2 oz
